Merry Christmas from the Hospital!
7:30am Merry Christmas, everyone!!!!! Greetings from my bedside! I've just gotten up after a decent (not great, but decent) night's sleep. We left Kennedy in the nursery last night to catch up on some zzzz's before heading out today. We basically just have to wait for the OBGYN to discharge me (and she's coming sometime this morning- maybe 8 or 9) and for the Pediatrician to discharge Kennedy; I have no idea when they are coming. Hopefully we won't have to stay here long this morning. But, just in case, I've just called room service and plan to eat like a horse before heading out; I can lose the weight when I get home, right? I've got french toast, bacon (you know how I feel about bacon), sausage (really, for Nathan), and home fries coming.
As I look around the room and think about packing up, I realize that we have a lot of *free* souvenirs to take home. Here's some stuff moms get to take home with them when they have a baby........ a handy dandy big straw-cup (think the kind you get at Kings Island). They actually tortured me with this cup by leaving it next to my bed during delivery.... when you aren't allowed to have any liquids to drink. I also get a free diaper bag, some humongous-jumbo pads which if I don't use I think they'd be great floor mops-ha, stylish rubber-bottomed slipper socks (I might put these in Nathan's stocking, ha), baby wipes, baby diapers, baby formula, post-partum panties (in case you don't know what these are.... they are mesh-netting underwear you wear after delivery.... like hairnet material.... very attractive), hemorrhoids (the gift that keeps on giving), a big cardboard baby toy box to put junk in, a baby, and a partridge in a pear tree.
I doubt I'll blog anymore today. I'm hoping to 'make like a baby and head out'.... and then celebrate Christmas with Keegan at home. By the way, the night before coming here I found Keegan in our front room, with a present in his lap, unwrapping it! What a peeker. He's lucky he's still getting the present today after I retaped the paper on. Kids will be kids.
Thanks to all of the friends, lurkers, and stalkers who have encouraged us with your comments and have made us laugh at times over the last few days. I hope you enjoyed being a part of this special time for us. Seriously, we thought some of you were right here in the room with us (creepy or cool.... not sure yet, ha!). :)
Merry Christmas, everyone! Enjoy your special day!!!!!!!!
8:15 AM They brought in Kennedy this morning, stuffed in a stocking - literally! :) What a great Christmas present! They brought Amber's breakfast as well - French toast, home fries, sausage, bacon, and milk. I read the Christmas story in Luke 2.
9:20am Amber again. Both the pediatrician and the OBGYN have been in and have given us the green light for discharge. They took Kennedy to the nursery to run some final tests and when they are done we can start the discharge process! Because we are headed out early (not waiting for her to be 48 hrs old), we'll have to bring her back tomorrow for additional tests. But, that's OK.... we just want to be home for Christmas!
