Check One: Yes or No?
It was exactly 9 years ago last night that Nathan asked me to be his girlfriend. It was a cold January night and we were sitting in his red Firebird in my parent's driveway. He loved that car and later traded it in for a wife & kids. :) I responded with a "Yes!" even though I was always so slow & cautious in my relationship with him.
In honor of our girlfriend/boyfriend anniversary, this is a tribute to our dating period. Yes, that is past tense. Somehow when you have kids, dates are traded in for chasing children around the mall or for sleepless nights feeding babies. Anyway, we did date before all that happened.
I think most of our first dates were spent at his brother's high school basketball games. We also spent a lot of time at his apartment with his 2 roomies (shout-out to Chuck!). They had lots and lots and lots of television channels.... more than I have ever seen.... and we watched a lot of movies. I think the movie Notting Hill was on about every night. I can still picture it. Nathan and I would be on the couch holding hands under a blanket (which I thought we did in secret; Nathan now tells me that his roomies probably knew). Chuck would be sitting in the Lazy-Boy with a towel on his chest (aka his napkin) and Dave & his girlfriend would be in and out too. On Saturdays, we would always go to the carwash together and wash his car. I didn't care what we were doing; I just liked being with him. Fun times.
Later in July 2000 we took a trip to Kings Island with Nathan's best friend and some others that I didn't know. On the road back, we had "the talk". You know, when you finally use the "m" word (marriage)! We agreed that we both wanted to be married to each other. Here are some pictures from that Kings Island trip; we look so young!

So, happy date-iversary to Nathan! Yes, I will be your girlfriend. Now and always until we are old and gray!!
I'll end with some pictures from our dating period. These are the only ones I can find that are digital....

Amber- All I can say is that I can still picture sitting in my chair (no towel, sorry) and someone saying something about doing the "hibbidy-dibbidy". Good times.
