Amber's Favorite Things
Each year, Oprah has a show where she shares her favorite things. These are products or things that she feels her audience would enjoy or things that are just fun and noteworthy. So, to copy Oprah... here is a little blog post called Amber's Favorite Things. For those of you who like to include gifts with your fan mail to me, feel free to use items or ideas from this list when applicable.
In no particular order.....
1. Etsy! Etsy is a website where you can buy and/or sell homemade things. Lots of jewelry, paper products, purses, hair accessories, wall decor, gifts, you name it. http://www.etsy.com/ I recently ordered this owl pacifier clip from there for Kennedy.

2. Chocolate orange. It's chocolate. It's orange. It's chocolate orange! I love chocolate that has citrus/orange in it.
3. Anthropologie. This is a store that I had never heard of until Jennifer B. introduced me to it in Chicago. Now there is one here in this city. I love their home stuff the best (especially kitchen stuff). http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/index.jsp
4. Lemon malts from Frosty Boy (in New Palestine). You wouldn't think the combination of lemon and malt would be that great, but it's quickly become one of my favorites.
5. Chocolate Eclairs from Hart Bakery. http://www.hartbakery.com/ These aren't just any eclairs. In fact, Nathan & I have spent many days tasting eclairs from around the city and haven't found anything that even compares. You have to get the ones with the french icing inside. It's a thick, rich center that reminds me of buttercream frosting. I don't even want to know how many calories these things have!
6. The Bible. Don't have one? Get one! Don't read yours? Read it! Don't believe in it? Test it! It's life-changing. I promise.
7. Boggle. It's a game that involves thinking but moves fast. Nathan & I like to play this together. He always, always beats me but he's cute so I keep playing it with him anyway.
8. Chuck Taylor's. That's right! I'm talking about the Converse high-top shoes. I have them in navy blue and also pink. I got the blue ones years ago (1997ish) and they haven't gone out of style yet. Or, have they? Please tell me if I need to quit wearing them. It's OK; I can take it.

9. A Moo-Mixer Mug. Drinking chocolate milk is a lot more fun when you have this great cup. With the push of a button, it stirs your chocolate milk. Recommended for ages 4 and up. Ok, fine. I have one. It's mine; not Keegan's. I promise my intention was to let Keegan use it.

10. The book Harold and the Purple Crayon. I have a few different ones; there is a whole collection. I like this book because it stimulates my imagination. Harold is a little boy who draws things that he wants to do (like if he wants to go on a boat ride, he just draws a boat and there it is). Think of all we could do if that were possible! I would draw a spa, followed by a warm beach and people feeding me grapes. I love books that stir my imagination. This is a great kid's book.

11. Hallmark magazine. Did you even know that Hallmark had a magazine? I've got a subscription and enjoy it. http://www.hallmarkmagazine.com/inthemagazine
12. Bath and Body Work's shea butter cuticle cream stick (think chapstick but thinner and longer). It's cuticle cream but you don't have to get your fingers all oily putting it on. Just rub the stick on your cuticles. I keep it in my purse and use it at stoplights (hey, I have 2 kids now... I have to multi-task).
13. Willam's Sonoma Spatulas and Spoonulas. You would think that a spatula is a spatula, right? Don't believe it! A spatula or big spoonula from William's Sonoma will change your thinking in the kitchen. And, the wooden handles can even be personalized. Nathan got me one of every size. (He's probably expecting me to make him cookies now) :)

14. Sugar Scrub. My friend, Mel, got me some from Mary Kay once. I've also used the candy cane Christmas kind from Bath and Body works. You rub it on your legs before you shave and it's the smoothest shave you'll ever have! I pinky swear!
15. Blogs! I think everyone should have one. It's therapy for me. We all need an outlet. Plus, I'm just really nosy (nosey?) and want to know about your life. They are easy to set up on blogspot.com And, please, if you make one.... we want to see posts! Don't be one of those people who never update your blog so when we go there you're laughing and singing "Ha, ha! Made you look!" You know who you are. :)
So, there you have it. 15 of my favorite things. And, unlike Oprah, I have NOT left you a gift under your chair. You'll have to buy your own! :)
