Let's Get This Party Started!
Making the best of yet another snow day yesterday, Keegan decided to throw a party with several of his good 'friends' (aka lots of his toys).
I knew it was time for me to step in and help with the party when I overheard Keegan talking to his guests about "Rock Bama" (Barack Obama). That's right; we have a 3 year old that talks politics at his parties. He is definitely Nathan's son! :)
The party sounded a little lame to me. I thought I would help.
Amber: "Keegan, what are we doing at your party?"
Keegan: "Just standing here."
Amber: "Should we dance?"
Keegan: "No. Don't dance."
Amber: (offended that he wouldn't want to see me cutting the rug) "Should we sing?"
Keegan: "No" (and slightly annoyed now)
Amber: "Should we play games?" (worried that the guests will be bored)
Keegan: "No. Just stand here."
Amber: "Is this like mingling?" (thinking "Really, let's get this party started")
Keegan: "No. Just stand here."
Amber: "Do you have entertainment?" (thinking, "Please don't make me talk politics")
Keegan: "No"
Amber: "Should we make some food? Your friends look hungry."
Keegan: "No"
(Amber pops popcorn anyway for the bored guests. What's a party without food, right?)
Thank goodness I stepped in with food.
Here's the party:
From above:
Lots of prominent guests. I'm not usually one to drop names, but I really feel like bragging. Cat in the Hat, Spongebob, Bumblebee Transformer.....
Sorry, Woody & Monkey. No music. No games. No fun. Just politics. (Clearly this party is lame). :)
I sometimes worry that we'll enter Keegan into school someday and he won't be prepared. I wonder if he'll know all the things he's supposed to know like numbers or how to write his name. Now I realize that what I really need to be working on is PARTY PLANNING. Now there's a skill that will get him places in life!
We'll work on it and you'll all be invited to the next PARTY!!!!!!!! I promise only FUN!!

BTW...it looks like a fun party to me! :-)
I shared this story with Susanna and she laughed out loud throughout her time reading it. We especially liked the photo captions. You're a great blogger!
