Happy Birthday, Mike!! And, a Jog Down Memory Lane

Happy Birthday to MIKE!!

If I know I have a blog reader with a birthday, I try to give them a shout out on their oh-so-special day. It sort of makes them famous for a day, I think.

Today's shout out is for MIKE. I also want to take some time to show you Amber Waves of Grain pre-kids.... when I worked with Mike. This was when I worked at the hospital and got a real paper paycheck, a lunch break, and vacation days. Those were the days.

Mike sat in the office across from mine. I dug up some pictures from back in the day (2004-2005). See below. The first red arrow is me at my desk. Notice the table towards the left, under the dry erase board? It was actually a buffet that I shared with my two office mates. We had a crock pot (why not make a crock pot cake during the workday?), coffee and cappuccino maker, a sandwich maker (I used it to whip up some Jiffy cornbread one day), and more. The dry erase board contained our team's walkie talkie nicknames. We used those Nextel phones with the walkie talkie function and I started the trend of talking like a trucker. I was Bo Peep (like Daisy Duke was on the Dukes of Hazzard). And, right outside the door in the hall is where I glued a quarter to the ground on April Fool's Day so we could watch people try to pick it up all day. All while managing a computer system. I sort of miss it sometimes.

Back to the arrows. The arrow on the right is where Mike sat, in the room across the hall. You can barely see his head behind his monitor.

I zoomed in on some bobble head dolls I had on my shelf (which Mike inherited when I left). They were supposed to be "HIM (Health Information Management) Superheroes" but I personalized them to be "Mike and Amber"dolls. They looked remarkably almost just like us.
Ok, here is Mike, below. He's just plain cool because he often reads my blog. I hope someone makes him a cake today, but not chocolate because he wouldn't like that (unless it's German Chocolate and then he'll partake).

So, here's to you and your non-chocolate cake, Mike!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
