Two Guilty Pleasures

In case you don't know this about me, I am a thrift store junkie. Now, we're not talking about a nice Goodwill store in some swanky neighborhood. No, that's far too fancy for me. Instead, I go on a weekly basis to a place in the ghetto called the DAV Thrift Store. It's the kind of place where strangers approach you in the parking lot, shoppers smell of alcohol at 10am, and you feel an immediate need to use hand sanitizer when you're done shopping. Yet, it's one of my favorite places to go. The people who work there know and expect me.

I get 99% of my kid's clothes at the thrift store; I go on a weekly basis and shop only from the 50% off colored price tags. I get most of their 'everyday' clothes for under $1. If it's something nicer, I pay a little more. I find name brands like Gap, Gymboree, The Children's Place , etc. I must admit, God has given me the ability to find 'diamond in the rough' deals. Most clothes I buy for my kids I can probably sell back and break even or make a profit on. I admit, I get a high from finding a good deal. There really is an art form and strategy to it; I'm addicted.

Some of my good finds this week include a pair of nice blue jeans for Keegan from the Children's Place for $1.50. Just in time since he wore a hole in his old pair of jeans this week. I also found Kennedy a nice dress from the Children's Place for $2. I picked up a few like-new bibs too for about 35 cents each. Here's the $2 dress (by the way, there is one like it on e-bay today that's up to $16 in bids and not done yet):
Now, onto my next and newest guilty pleasure..... selling these items back on ebay. I have a new bug for selling things on ebay. I suppose you can say I have the E-bug (don't tell the media; they will probably start closing down schools and whatnot). I started by listing 6 items this week and the auctions haven't ended yet. Already, a pair of Keegan's old pajamas are up to $4 with 6 days left of bidding. I bought them for $1.50 at DAV. I plan to start doing this with several of my thrift store finds that the kids are done wearing.
I'm having fun with this, although I haven't had to deal with shipping anything yet so we'll see. Here are those Zutano Baby pajamas I told you about:

We'll see how this selling stuff goes. I'm just doing a little at a time to see what it's like. You never know, I might just go pro!!!
