I'll Meet You In That Dark Alley

So, this past week was SBS (Summer Bible School... aka Vacation Bible School). Nathan and I both helped. I was the photographer which was fun. I wish I could share some specific pictures but they are of other people's kids and I don't have permission. After all, you could be some creepy stalker reading this. I can just post generic pictures that don't show faces and whatnot.

We had 75+ kids and most of them I would say were visitors from the community. I loved to see them smiling and having so much fun, and also hearing about Jesus. Keegan went to class too; there was a class for 2-3 year olds and he had fun. His favorite part were the puppets.

The first and last night, the church brought in one of those fun inflatable things. The kids really loved this. I planned on going through it Fri night but due to our car trouble we never made it.

I spent much of my week taking individual pictures of each child for their crafts. Here is Keegan's picture with the frame he made. It's a flipbook with his memory Bible verses in the middle.
Here he is late at night, past his bedtime.... trying to be a good sport:
Friday night we were on our way to the last night of SBS. The traffic was horrible on the interstate and I sat for over an hour. It was also the hottest and most humid day of the year so far. My car overheated. I was starting to panic because exits were few and far between. I just kept praying that I'd make it to an exit. Remember, I still own no cell phone and I had both kids with me. I kept picturing what it would look like for me to walk down the interstate with a stroller and 3 year old trying to find help. So, praise God! I made it to an exit, barely. The first place I could stop at was Pier One Imports so I used their phone. Darn, I'd have to shop while waiting for help. Although, taking Keegan into a store like that (with lots of glass stuff down low) was more than brave.

My car is now at the shop and the part needed is nowhere to be found. They said it could take months to get in because it's so far backordered. I have spent most of my day trying to find the part all over the nation at junkyards, car parts places, ebay, you name it. I need a thermostat housing specifically for my car's make/model. I think there's a black market for it and I'm completely willing to meet you in a dark alley to buy one from your trench coat if you have one, wink-wink-nod-nod.

I hope that we can find a car to borrow (know anyone with a spare????) because I could be carless for "months" until we get the part. We were also supposed to take a vacation very soon and do not have a car to take. There's no way we can fit the stroller along with luggage in Nathan's work car. So, say a prayer that we'll get a car. I'd love to go on Wheel of Fortune to win one, if you want to pray that specifically. :)

Nathan is at King's Island Amusement Park today with our church youth group. I also woke up to find hundreds (or do I mean thousands!?!?) of ANTS in our pantry. I basically went postal on them with ant spray, which also meant throwing out a lot of food. I did get a clean pantry out of it so I suppose at the end of the day it's all OK.

So, that was my week! Let me know if you have that car part-- see ya' in that dark alley!

No spare parts, no spare car, so I guess I'm basically worthless. But I will say that you do a great job with pictures. You've got real, God-given talent there, girl. Keep it up.
