An Important Day

Today marks a very special day for us. It's opening day for the great STATE FAIR.

In order to celebrate this day, I wanted to share some cool photos with you from fairs past. These were taken from the book "The Great Indiana State Fair at 150".

This is a fair ticket from 1898:
These are fairgoers in 1912. The building is the first coliseum, built in 1907. What I love about this photo is to see how the people are dressed. Very different than fair fashion today! And, I bet the men in those suits were so hot! (although the fair back then was later in the summer when it was a tad cooler).
Here are fairgoes in 1934, learning about clay. Again, look at the way they are dressed- especially those cute kids in the front row!
Notice the price of the snow balls (5 cents). This was in 1937:
These are girls learning the basics of baking (not sure of the year):
