Hog Heaven
I officially survived the swine flu (H1N1) last week. It really brought new meaning to the phrase "I've died and gone to hog heaven". It wasn't horrible, but it certainly was the sickest I've felt in a really long time. Nathan ended up getting sick too with some type of flu, and Keegan as well. I am 'squealing' with delight that Kennedy never got sick, praise God!
These were the best things about having the swine flu:
1. Nathan helped extra with the kids. Really, he took complete care of them over the weekend and came home early one day from work to help when I couldn't. Sort of like a vacation.
2. You get to wear sweat pants all week.
3. When you're sick you don't bother wearing makeup, so your skin is in great condition at the end of the week.
4. I lost 3-4 pounds in one week without exercise or fad diets.
5. I felt protected from robbers. If someone tried to break in, I could simply tell them that I had swine flu and threaten to cough in their faces. I bet they'd run away!
I was also very pleased that the kids behaved so well while I was sick. I still had to care for them, but they did better than usual as far as entertaining themselves.
When I'm sick, I have a rule that the kids can watch as much television as they'd like. I figured one week of melting their brains can't hurt them.
I found Keegan reading books one afternoon when I was unable to play with him:
Finally, anytime I ran upstairs, I knew the kids were waiting patiently for me at the bottom of the steps. I thought it was funny that I found Keegan in his knight costume this particular time.
So, I'm back in society now. We're still a little tired and wiped out but we're back in our routine! I hope being active again brings me some fun new stories to blog about!
