Let's Hear It For Stroganoff
I really have nothing fabulous to write about this week but I didn't want to leave my faithful blog readers hanging! :)
So, I think I should simply share a favorite recipe!
Let's hear it for beef stroganoff!!
1 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite size pieces (I've used a variety of meats for this.. whatever is 'reduced for quick sale' is usually what lands in my cart. The original recipe actually called for fondue beef but it's pricey and hard to find)
2/3 cup water
1 4oz can of mushrooms, including the liquid (I omit the mushrooms... texture issues!)
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 cup sour cream
2 TBSP flour
Cooked Egg noodles (5 cups dry)
2 TBSP butter or margarine
Melt the butter in a pan. Add the beef and brown it. Add the water & mushrooms. Stir in the soup mix and bring to a boil. Blend the sour cream with the flour in a bowl and then add it to the mixture in the pan. Cook and stir until it all thickens. Stir it in with the egg noodles.
It's very fast and easy to make. I cut the beef with scissors ahead of time and then dinner is quick. Even Nathan likes this recipe. A way to a man's heart is through recipes involving beef!
Enjoy!
