JoAnn Is Not My BFF.

On Friday I attempted to go across town to JoAnn Fabrics with both kids. I say 'attempted' because if you've never shopped with 2 kids, you should know that there's a good chance you will have to abort your mission halfway through. I suppose it was because it was Friday the 13th that I had to abort this particular day. We spent 2 hours trying to get there and back. There were countless potty trips along with feeding both kids while in the car shopping, breaking a Christmas ornament, dealing with some meltdowns, and so forth. We went to look at fabric. I never actually made it to the fabric part of the store. That's right- it was a fabric store and we never got to the fabric. We left as I was near mental-breakdown.

So, I got online and found the fabric I was interested in through their website. Nathan was gracious enough to watch the kids today for me to go back to JoAnn's alone. I drove across town. I found the fabric section, and began looking. I could not find the one I saw online. So, I approached the less than enthusiastic employee who was not doing anything, but her attitude showed that I was bothering her by my presence.

Amber: "Hi. I'm looking for a Waverly brand fabric called Prentis Striped Grass"
JoAnn: "I can't help you with that."
Amber: "I know it would be back here (pointing to the Waverly fabrics), do you know where I can find this one?"
JoAnn: (annoyed) "I need the sku number. I can't help you."
Amber: (annoyed back) "The fabric was on your website and I have the name. No one can help me find it?"
JoAnn: "I need the sku."
Amber: "Thanks" (not sure for what)... and walked away
Amber: (to herself)-- 'You mean I'm in a fabric store with the name of a fabric you carry, you work in this dept, and you are telling me you don't have a way to find it!?!
Amber: "Me again (smiling). I drove across town to get this fabric. Do you really not have a way to find it?"
JoAnn: "I guess I could look up the sku (*sigh*)." (pulling out a binder and looking for the name of the fabric....)

Ok, so I've never actually gone postal on a store worker before, but this was just about to be the day. She could have looked it up the whole time.

JoAnn: "I don't see it." (closed the binder after not looking that hard.....")

-Sigh- I left the store before causing a scene. I suppose it wasn't meant to be!

Wow, that's a sad state of retail there.

Was it the JoAnn's in castleton?? I have had lots of problems with the people who work at the desk back there! Not quite as bad as what you experienced, but they always seem extremely inconvenienced to have to help me. How rude of us to ask them to do their jobs!
Tabitha-- Yes, that's the one and it was the back desk too! Glad I'm not alone. I always thought JoAnn's was a happy store but apparently you have to avoid the back of the store to get that effect! :)
