Kit Kat Incident of 2009

We like to refer to last night as the Kit Kat Incident of 2009. We had the privilege of having our dear friend, Damon, for dinner. Let me just say that dinner with Damon is always an adventure.

It started as a normal dinner.... you know, pork tenderloin, jasmine rice, green beans. Then things got a little crazy. It was like Andrew Zimmern joined us. (from the show "Bizarre Foods")
Nathan broke out his Mexican Coca Cola in glass bottles. Followed by dinner, we offered Damon some of Nathan's Japanese coffee (I should mention that it was regurgitated by weasels) but he declined since he's already had that before.

The highlight of our evening (besides later watching the very first episode ever of the Dukes of Hazzard) was opening our stock of Kit Kats from Japan. I mentioned in a previous blog post that Nathan brought me back a TON of Kit Kats from his trip. They were still all unopened so we were excited to have a 'victim', I mean friend- to help us taste-test.
We tasted the corn Kit Kats, which tasted like Corn Pops cereal covered in chocolate. We tasted Ginger Ale Kit Kats which was probably my favorite. Although I don't like gingerale, I love citrus mixed with chocolate and these just tasted like lemon/lime with chocolate. We also tasted royal tea (like tea with milk), cantaloupe Kit Kats (surprisingly good), soy sauce flavored Kit Kats (not bad either), and last, but not least-- green tea Kit Kats. Those were bad, I have to admit. Imagine taking a tea bag and just sucking on it; this is what the green tea ones tasted like.

We tried to get some action shots to show our real expressions after tasting these. I think our faces explain it all.

Here's the Kit Kat buffet.
Even the cat cookie jar thinks we're weird:
This one wasn't bad:
I think Damon was sorry he came for dinner... :)
Then it was time for GREEN TEA Kit Kats. Damon should be a hand-model:
The fact that they were actually the color green should have been an indicator that they would taste like this:
Nathan seemed to think it was funny at first:
Until he tasted it too:
I think Damon was enjoying his. Ok, fine, not really.:
I'm sure you'll all be rushing over to have dinner with us now that you know what delicacies we serve. There are still many unopened flavors to try including sweet potato, purple sweet potato, strawberry, blueberry cheesecake, and more. Andrew Zimmern, eat your heart out!!
