9 Years & 2 Babies Later....
Nine years ago today I said "I do!"
March 24th, 2001.
Every wedding has some 'funny' memories of things that didn't go quite as planned. Here are a few fun ones that I remember....
1) I remember the photo shoot well because I was so hungry when we finished. I was the last to be done with photos (because I was the bride and it was all about me, of course). I went to the kitchen for lunch and the groomsmen (and a few others... but mostly the men, I'm sure) had eaten everything (um, Chuck, you owe me a sandwich!). :) There was no food at all left for the poor, hungry bride. Note to future brides: hide a snack of your own away from the men.
2) The ceremony began and I walked down the aisle with my dad. The pastor began the service but he forgot to give me away. I stood with my dad for the longest time while the pastor talked about marriage commitment and so forth. That's right, I almost married my dad. I looked up at Nathan who was at the top of the steps, while I stood at the bottom with my dad; we wondered when the pastor would notice. Finally the pastor realized what was going on and had my dad give me away. With a kiss on the cheek followed by a high-five with my dad, Nathan and I were finally hand in hand for the rest of the ceremony.
3) Finally, when we returned from our honeymoon we learned that the pastor forgot to turn in our legal paperwork and marriage certificate to the government. It was down to the final hour of when it needed to be submitted (or else our marriage wouldn't have been legal). The pastor was also gone on vacation. Nathan's dad found our papers in the pastor's church office and drove them downtown to submit them in the final legal allowable moments. Whew. It was almost not legal.
Here are some pics from the big day..... back when they used film:
We look so young!:

Here was our large bridal party including ushers:
Here are the men who ate my lunch:
Here we are before riding away for our honeymoon. We are in a funeral limo that a man from the church drove. A funeral limo at a wedding.... there's a joke in there somewhere:

Nine years later...... with 2 kids.... I'm wishing Nathan a very happy anniversary today!!!
