Luck Is Coming Your Way

Nathan & I had a real, actual date on Friday night! It was much needed and it's a rare happening, so I was very pleased when he 'asked me out.' Here we are pulling out of our driveway.... to freedom... with NO KIDS in the backseat!
We started the night at China King. It's this little place on our side of town where the blinds are always shut, there are never cars in the parking lot, yet they've been open as long as I can remember. It was one of my Pandora Boxes that needed to be opened and Nathan was gracious enough to try it with me. Now, if you know us, you know we like hole-in-the-wall type places as long as they have good grub. China King would fall into this category.

Here I am at China King. I've blackened out their phone number in case some of you are crazy stalkers trying to figure out whereabouts I live. I at least want to slow you down, right?!
We were the only people dining in on a Friday night at 6pm. The inside is run-down and not at all pretty to look at, to say the least. That didn't bother us. Here we are:
We enjoyed reading our Chinese Zodiac signs while waiting for our food (which was a short wait, btw). I'm a snake! Vain and high tempered but wise.
Nathan is a dragon with abundant health.
We saw a lot of cars coming up for take-out and the phones rang off the hook, so they must really focus on carry-out and delivery. We'll probably try that next time.
The food was very good and fresh, and priced reasonably. I got the cashew chicken:
Nathan got the General's chicken:
We definitely recommend the restaurant and think it will be our new take-out place. If you're wanting a spectacular atmosphere though, this is not the place for you if you want dine-in.

Then we went to the movies. That's right, a real movie theater! I literally could not remember the last movie I saw in a theater. We have a cheap theater by our house that just got new seats so we gave it a whirl. For only $4 combined, we saw the Blind Side. Ok, let me just say that we loved the movie. It was so inspiring and really touched us. I might do a separate blog about the movie and how it relates to where we are in life right now. No promises so don't hold me to it.

We got home and relieved the grandparents who survived with our kids. Then we watched Brian Regan's stand-up comedy routine (DVD from Netflix- you should get it!).
It's funny, clean humor. We very much enjoyed it.

My fortune cookie read, "Luck Is Coming Your Way!" so as soon as that happens I'll be sure to blog about it! I'm sure it involves big winnings or something!

China King is THE place my co-workers order take-out from. They tried somewhere else once and won't do that again... It's China King every week now.
