9 Days. 2 hours. 37 Minutes.

It's been 9 days.... 2 hours... and about 37 minutes now. Some of you are probably hoping that I've been clean from some of my addictions that long. You know, like bacon or fried food served on sticks. This is something even worse. I've been without......... (insert anticipation here)...... are you ready?....... drum roll, please......... my beloved........ camera (sigh).

Quite frankly I'd rather go this long without wearing pants than to live without my camera. It's a part of me. I rarely leave home without it. Where is my friend, you ask? Well, I was taking pictures of Keegan when suddenly it just quit working. No warning at all. I received a bold "Error 99" on the screen which is apparently a catchall for anything and everything. I took the camera to the camera shop where I bought it and they sent it off to Canon, out of state. It was like sending my child to their first overnight camp. It was near-tearful. I wondered, "Would it be scared?" "Would it miss me?". You know, all the thoughts that go through your mind when you leave a child someplace new.

I received a call on Thursday with an estimate. It's going to be about $260 in repairs (gasp). I asked what was wrong with it and nobody could tell me. The dreaded..... Error 99. Unfortunately, I did not buy an extended warranty (the camera turned 1 at Christmas). $260 is a lot of money; I hope to auction my children off on ebay this week for this good cause.

I'm not sure when exactly I'll get it back. The woman said Canon is 'fast' and typical turnaround is 10-14 days. I'm hoping to get a call this week.

Anyway, I've missed a lot of photo opportunities as a result. For instance, I gave Keegan his very first golf lesson with the clubs he got for Christmas. I guess instead of photos, I will have to draw everything for now.
Here's Keegan's first ever golf lesson. I'm so glad to have captured this milestone with a detailed drawing in lieu of a photo:
I've missed other cute things too. We missed photos of my nephew's first birthday party. I missed it when the kids were getting along happily on the same chair. I missed Kennedy riding the John Deere play tractor in the backyard.

Kennedy was playing outside with bubbles last night and that was a missed photo too. I think you can see the joy in her face in my drawing though. It's almost the same. Right?
So, Mr. Canon, please fix my Error 99 soon. As you can see, my drawings just aren't doing justice! Here's to hoping my camera is back soon!

Frankly, your drawings are better than my pictures!
