State Fair!!

We went to the State Fair yesterday and it was a beautiful, sunny, 85 degrees with slightly less humidity than normal. Perfect!

I should start by saying that it's important that we have 'fair wear'. Keegan and Nathan have their John Deere shirts on.
I have on my John Deere "LOVE YOUR TRACTOR" shirt. I had big plans to make Kennedy a shirt but it never happened. That's what happens when you're the 2nd child. She's been forgotten already. In fact, have I ever mentioned that I don't have a single picture of her up in our house yet? I digress.
She's cute anyway in her little sunglasses and hat.
We started by getting Keegan's dinner.... the only thing he'll eat at the fair: POPCORN. Nathan and I split a chocolate milkshake. Then we saw a Turkey Hill sample booth and got in on some cute little free cartons of ice cream. We ate them in front of this year's new American Gothic art statues. This photo does not do these cool statues justice.
Then we headed to Main Street for food. Nathan got a gyro in honor of our friend, Andrea, who lives in Bangladesh now and misses the fair.
Andrea, I hope you plan to do the exercising to work this gyro off of Nathan. He actually popped a button on his shorts yesterday which was a classic state fair happening.

I went with the corn in a cup. It's one of my favorites. It costs $1 more to get it in a cup as opposed to a cob, but it's not a mess and I actually think you get more corn.
Then I had the breaded green beans. I just say 'breaded' and not 'deep fried in lard' because it makes me feel better.
The most outrageous thing I saw was this:
You can get a hamburger served between 2 Krispy Kreme donuts as your bun. Needless to say, we did NOT try this one. A little much for even me.

That's actually all we ate! Can you believe it!? I should say that toting 2 small children with us really slows us down. We left and felt like we didn't get to see very much. Maybe this means a trip back!
We still had fun. Lovin' it!!
Oh, and here's the gazebo/gift shop. Each year they decorate it to match the theme and this year was "Year of the Pigs."
The fair ends Aug 22nd so be sure to get there! Let me know if you try the Krispy Kreme burger or anything else I need to know about!
