BEST Birthday Gift Ever... James Best, That Is!
So, most of you know that I love the Dukes of Hazzard! I grew up watching the show and still enjoy it. Here I am sitting in the General Lee with Keegan. Another life highlight.
So, today I was in the gym locker room when my phone rang. First, I was lucky it even rang because I've had phone issues lately. Anyway, it was my dear friend, Mel. She told me someone wanted to talk to me.....and handed the phone off.
Then I heard.... "the voice." It was a voice dear to my heart that I easily recognized. That's right, it was JAMES BEST who played Roscoe P. Coltrane on the Dukes of Hazzard!!!
Here's a LINK to his voice if you need a refresher!
It was NOT a recording; it was the REAL James Best!! Mel works for a local tv station where he was appearing today and had him call me. He was talking in his Roscoe voice and was calling to wish me a happy birthday!! He did a whole little spiel about the Duke boys and everything!! I was speechless!!!! I wish there was a video recording of my face!
When he was all done, I asked him to do the 'laugh' for me and I imitated it myself so he'd know what I was asking. And, HE DID it. How cool is that!?!?!?!?
Thanks, Mel, you made my day (my whole life, really!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COOLEST thing EVER.
And, good luck to Nathan who has to find presents for me for the rest of our lives.... because I don't think he can ever compete with this!! :) Not unless he gets both Bo & Luke to come to my house for dinner!
Edited to Add: Here's a LINK to his interview on our local TV station today!

That made me smile - how fun for you! But now I'm mad at Mel for setting the bar so high none of us can touch it! -- Mindy
