Extreme Home Makeover: Amber's Edition Day 2 Update

Yesterday was DAY 2 for painting.

Let me just mention that I'm watching 2 small children while all of this goes on. Let me also mention that the baby gates have been removed (and Kennedy doesn't do steps well yet so they can't run upstairs), the electrical outlets are all unprotected (Kennedy loves to play with outlets), there are ladders, piles of small screws, etc, etc. Not to mention wet paint. It is dry to the touch but probably wouldn't withstand a small child ramming a toy grocery cart into the wall, so I have to keep them away. Oh, and I'm pregnant and tired. Let's just say I'm exhausted.

Anyway, here are photos from day 2.

A 2nd coat of paint in the kitchen. Ignore the yellow partition. That's the old yellow. It will be a new shade of yellow that will match the other rooms.
And in the small hallway off our kitchen. This was previously white:
The goldish yellow trim was started in our living room. This room was previously a khaki type green:
And, the staircase was started (Nancy- Thanks for letting Russ borrow your scaffolding ladder!). By the way, do you know how dusty a chandelier gets when you don't clean it for almost 10 years? My painter cleaned it for me while he was on the ladder; bless his soul.
I should mention that our painter is great. He's a man from our old church who we know well and easily trust in our home. He's also just good company to have around and is great with my kids. I call him the baby whisperer. Everyone needs a painter who is also a baby whisperer.

Today is Day 3 and then I'm guessing the painter won't be back until next week. This whole process could last up to 3 weeks because he only works part-time. So, I'll try to post photos over the course of the next few weeks! Hip, hip, hooray!
