First Week of Pre-K

Keegan officially finished his first week of Pre-K. He's at a new school with new friends, new teachers, and new routines. He attends 4 mornings a week.

I layed out a nice polo-style shirt for his big first day. He informed me that he wanted to wear a "cool" shirt instead. Apparently I'm not cool enough to be his stylist anymore. He picked Spiderman and would not let me do his hair.
His first day was a little traumatic...... for me, that is. Nathan & I walked him to his classroom to drop him off. He was a little intimidated but didn't cry a single tear (if you recall, last year's drop-off ordeal at preschool was close to nightmare-status). He gave extra hugs good-bye as a stalling technique but when we left he did fine. I cried in the car.

Here he is finding his cubby hole.
The next 2 days I tried dropping him off on the sidewalk instead of taking him in. The principal found a bigger kid to help him find his classroom. He did fine I cried.

The 4th and final day of the week I dropped him off on the sidewalk and he had no help finding his classroom. He did fine. I cried.

Maybe it's pregnancy hormones or just the fact that my little boy is growing up but it sure was an emotional week for me!

I'll wrap up with an interview from our big school boy. His answers are word for word.
Amber: What was your favorite thing at your new school this week?
Keegan: Um, playing with the bugs. And, my other favorite thing is to cut with scissors.
A: Real bugs?
K: No, tend ("pretend") ones in the table. We can play with under the table with magnets that move the bugs.
A: Did you miss Mommy?
K: Yeah.
A: Who's your new friend at school?
K: I don't know what his name is. I know them names but I can't figure out which name is whose.
A: So, now that you're in school- you're probably way smarter. What do you think about the big oil spill in the ocean? How should they clean it up?
K: Get a can to use and be careful not to get their hands wet. They might use a can or get two cans to fill up with all that oil and dump it in the trashcan.
A: That's a great idea. Who is president right now?
K: Rock Bama. And the other one was George Washington- it was his turn last time.
A: Would you like to be president someday?
K: No, I'd like to be a knight or a fighter.
A: Anything else you want to share?
K: Yes, I want Kennedy to not throw food anymore.
A: Me too, Keegan. Me too.

There you have it, folks. My big Pre-K boy!
