Extreme Home Makeover: Amber's Edition- CARPET

We sold our old green couch and loveseat last week. They were good to us, but it was time to move on.

We are expecting our new sectional to arrive next week or so. In the meantime, our living room is empty. Just enough space to set up a tee-pee now, right?
While waiting on the new sectional, this is a perfect time to finally get new carpet for this space. Let me mention that when we built the house, Nathan & I clearly knew nothing about having kids. We got white carpet. It stayed white for about a day.

After almost 10 years, it now looks stained, like this:
Each stain tells a story. One tells of a going away party for our dear friend, Damon, who moved to the Ukraine. It's his meatball stain that lovingly reminds us of him. I wouldn't have had it any other way. Another stain tells of Keegan who finally ate blueberries for the first time..... and then got very sick on the carpet we had professionally cleaned only hours before. Other stains remind me of having two babies with reflux. Good times have been had by all on this carpet. But, it's time to move on.

So.... we'll be removing the white berber and getting a beige, speckled frieze carpet that looks like this sample:
We're also going to switch from carpet to laminate in this triangle area separating our front room from the kitchen. It's high-traffic here so laminate will be easier to keep clean.
Out with the old, in with the new!!! I'll update with photos when the carpet arrives sometime before next week! And, no more meatballs in my living room! :)

Your new carpet looks a lot like ours- and it doesn't really show any stains/dirt! Good choice. Also, I highly recommend the Bissell Little Green for quick stain/spill cleanup. It's a miracle with pets and I'm sure with kids too! Oh, and with that tub of sweet and sour sauce Chris dumped on the carpet last week :)

Do not walk barefoot on your freize. It mats it. Must wear socks. :) Oh yeah, you already have some downstairs...
