New & Improved Amber
Introducing the "New & Improved" Amber. The new Amber who can take a relaxing trip with a girlfriend and not have a 3-page spreadsheet of activities with a timeline and agenda. The new Amber who can splurge and order dessert. The new Amber who does not have to go-go-go on a trip and can sit.... and do nothing. The new Amber who orders room service, goes to the spa, and even (*gasp*) doesn't make the hotel bed! That's right, some of you would not believe it!!
I just returned from a 2-day girls only trip with my BFF, Jennifer. Clearly, I'm a whole new woman.
We went through some antique stores. I use the words "antique stores" loosely. I should clarify that to find the antiques, we first had to sort through a LOT of junk. Like in the store full of stuffed cats:
Or the creepy lady:
I forgot to take a picture of my treasures, but I did find some antique shaving brushes and a cute little tin to decorate the bathroom, an old film canister to go with my old camera collection, and some letterpress type stamps.
Jennifer found a fun old telescope (look behind her):
We ate lunch at a winery with delicious pizza and I had cinnamon orange tea. Yum.
We checked into our really fancy resort-type hotel.
The rotunda/lobby was classy.
It was especially elegant at night:
And the lobby had a lot of comfy chairs for lounging:
Our room was fit for 2 queens:

We indulged in a fancy dinner at the hotel and I got the chocolate dome cake for dessert. It was the BEST. Well, until the couple sitting next to us starting smooching in a loud, wet kind of way and nearly ruined it. But, I continued to eat.
We even went to the casino (my first time ever). I am not a gambling girl, but I wanted to try a slot machine just for kicks. I entered the casino with a whopping $7 budget which was lost in about 15 minutes. Sorry, Nathan, it looks like you can't retire yet.

And, finally, we visited the hotel spa!
I got a prenatal massage followed by a facial. We also got to sit around in big white bath towels and just RELAX. I'm pretty sure I look about 10 years younger today than I did 2 days ago.
So, thanks to Jennifer for a fun time! And, here's to meeting the NEW AND IMPROVED AMBER!
