Striking Up Some Fun
Yesterday was Keegan's 5th birthday party at the bowling alley. It was his first time having a party where he could invite friends (we usually just have grandparents over), so it was a big deal!
We got a package at the bowling alley that included bowling and shoes for 8 kids, a hostess, a decorated table with balloons and a souvenir bowling pin, paper goods, and drinks for the kids-- all at a really great price (and they let us use a coupon!). I ended up LOVING the fact that I didn't have to clean my own house or clean up after. We will definitely be doing party packages in the future.
I'm also really proud of myself for literally "taking it easy". Instead of spending hours making Martha Stewart looking invitations, I just sent out ones I made in Word. I did, however, write the poem (Hallmark should be impressed):
His feet were finally big enough to fit into bowling shoes:
There were 7 other kids who bowled and they all seemed to have fun:
And, finally, a cake from Sam's Club. Because of Keegan's food issues, this is the first birthday he's had actual cake!:
I should mention that when you buy candles for a child's cake, read the fine print. You might accidentally be buying 'trick' candles. Thanks to Nathan for getting the flames out quickly! :)
