Favorite Products: 2011
Because I love you all dearly, I'm letting you in on some top secret products that I love.
That's right, my favorite five products for 2011. If I were rich like Oprah, I'd give them to you as gifts. But, for now you'll have to cough up your own cash for them. Here they are:
1. Stir Crazy Popcorn Popper by West Bend (LINK). I already told you about this before Christmas. It made the list again because we've used it several times now and it's still fabulous. We use it often for family movie & popcorn nights.
First, you just add some oil (like veggie oil) and some popcorn kernels (about 2/3 c kernels to 2tbsp oil) and plug it in. There is a compartment on the top for pads of butter that will melt and drip through holes onto the popping corn.
The kids love watching it. I wish you could hear them singing the Barenaked Ladies' song called Popcorn (LINK).
And, voila! When it's done popping, you flip the whole thing upside down and the clear dome becomes a serving bowl. I love a self-contained mess. I got mine on sale at Target for $19.99 (I think they are $24.99 not on sale). Great gift idea too.
2. L.L. Bean Hearthside Slippers (LINK). I got the 'scuff' version with the shorter back. Lots of colors to pick from, $29.95. I wear them daily. After a couple of days, they will conform to the shape of your foot and be extra comfy. Get a pair for your Valentine.
3. Keurig "K-Cup" pod coffee maker (LINK). I bought this for Nathan for Christmas and it's gotten a lot of use. I actually hate coffee, but I make hot chocolate in it. Nathan is our coffee drinker and I love that I don't have any clean-up when he makes coffee now. No coffee pot, filters, or parts to dump or wash. Just keep the tank filled with water, put in a "K-Cup" coffee pod, and it's done in no time.
The K Cups will cost more than regular coffee (40-44 cents/cup), but it's cheaper than Starbucks and the convenience is worth it to me. You can also buy a special filter/holder ($15 or less) to put your regular coffee grounds in instead of using the pods to save money but we haven't tried that yet.
4. Fossil 'Stella' watches. They are good combination of simple and 'bling'!
And, they have the date which I have found to be useful. Fossil, $85 (LINK).
5. Nutella! The curiosity was killing me. So, after 33 years of life, I recently gave in and bought a small container of Nutella. It was life-changing.
If you are also new to Nutella, it's basically a hazelnut spread with cocoa and you can find it in the peanut butter aisle. You can use it as a spread, or eat it plain with a spoon..... like when both of your kids are whining at the same time and you need a release.
They have a monthly sweepstakes where you can win a case (15 jars) of Nutella on their website (LINK). I figured that 15 jars of Nutella would equal 60,000 calories. If I win, maybe I'll share a jar or two to spread the love..... or love-handles, I should say.
