My Mother's Day!

It's 8pm on Mother's Day and the kids are asleep. I'm exhausted but so blessed.

A friend tragically lost their son this past week and I was reminded of the fragility of life.  I held my kids tighter this week.  I said "I love you" more.  I put aside mundane tasks and played with cars, painted little girl's toenails, and danced in the living room with my baby.  I love my family.   This Mother's Day weekend was great.

We started on Friday with manicures/pedicures.  Pink on top, purple on bottom.
Then Keegan brought home some fun stuff from school.  He completed the blanks on this one:

They say:
My mother can RUN
My mother likes FLOWERS
My mother is PRITE (pretty)
Mothers go TO RESULEN (to wrestling).  For the record, I have never once been to wrestling!
Mothers will HUG ME
My mother has CIDS (kids)
My mother loves ME.

And, no Mother's Day is complete without a finger-painted paper plate.
Or, a portrait of me, by Keegan.  It looks just like me. Someone remind me to trim my claws.
 A mystery plant:
And, my personal favorite.... a green plastic alligator necklace.  He earned a prize at school but sacrificed picking something for himself and got me this which was so sweet.  He says "You look SO beautiful in that!" when I wear it...which is all the time since he makes sure of it.

Nathan had flowers delivered (although it's hard to compete with that awesome necklace).  He made sure the vase matched my kitchen. Impressive.
On Saturday Nathan & the kids took me to Jockamo's Pizza for dinner out.

In case you don't know, Keegan has sensory issues related to food.  I wasn't sure if he'd touch the pizza there. He ate TWO pieces of pizza there and 1 1/2 breadsticks.  This is the most I've ever seen him eat. Ever.  It got me choked up.  So thankful.

Sunday we went to church and then spent time at my in-laws.  I may have done some dishes, some laundry, and some grocery shopping on Mother's Day too, but we won't talk about that. This is the best we could do for taking a group picture at my in-law's.  We'll have to photoshop the kids in later, right!?
If you're a mom, hug your kids tighter this week.

We. Are. So. Blessed.   Happy Mother's Day.
