You Decide: Bedding!

Image
I want to be ready for the day Savannah climbs out of her crib and needs to move into a twin bed.  I finally found 4 bedding sets that incorporate her existing room colors which are purple, dark pink, and green. Now, help me decide on bedding!  Here's what you should know...... Her wall color is 6550 Mythical ( we country folks will call it purple ): Nothing fancy, just a low-budget, simple room !  A mix of green and purple for the art and other accents....   She has one small vintage nightstand in 6841 Dynamo (dark pink).  She also has some dark pink toy bins.   Here's the nightstand.  And, white curtains.... She also has some green. All together now... we've added these colors in pom poms so they can hang and collect dust .   And... here are the bedding collections in no particular order. #1: #2: (I'm worried this will clash the purple walls or be overkill... but I like this one be...

Our Little Graduate

Image
Keegan is officially a first grader.   We attended his Kindergarten graduation ceremony last night. The class sang several songs, performed the alphabet in sign language, and played one song as a bell choir.  He's on the right.  Can you find him? They were so cute.    Then they received their 'diplomas'.  Keegan was the only student to be recognized for perfect attendance for the school year.  Keegan is blessed to have grandparents who love and support him.   And, "Aunt" Michele! Every child needs an Aunt Michele.  For comparison sake....here Keegan was on his first day of Kindergarten....   And, here he is on the last day of Kindergarten: We've really watched him blossom and mature through this year of school.  He eats better, he's 1" taller, he's doing addition and subtraction, and he reads like a whiz.  We are so proud of him!  Congratulations, Keegan!!

What's Bugging Me

Image
I woke up this morning to this view from my kitchen window.  Do you see it?   Look at the size of that moth!    It's beautiful and these pictures do not do it justice.  It has camoflauge like a leaf and the colors are vibrant.    What a creative God we have.  My friend, Ben, is an expert in all things creepy, crawling, or flying.  He informed me that this is a Pandora Sphinx (moth). That's the earliest type of moth reported for Indiana.  This insect has some history.      And, of course, we have the Keegan species of bug as well.  Again, isn't God creative?

Last Minute Louisville

Image
We took a last minute trip to Louisville over the weekend.  When I say last minute, I mean I think we got the last possible hotel room within a 10 mile radius of Louisville. We stayed in Clarksville which has a Bass Pro Shops store.  The store is massive and we spent hours there.  The kids love it. It has a real creek through the store with a lot of wildlife.  There is a huge aquarium at one end:    There's a game section where you can shoot laser type guns and hit targets which make animals jump or little shows happen.  Lots of fun.  If you shoot the right target on this one, the rhino comes out:    And, for Memorial Day weekend Bass Pro Shops had crafts and games for kids.  Keegan won a sleeping bag by finding an object using a metal detector.  They also took free photos.  Here's ours.  Classy, right?     Bass Pro Shop is like a redneck Disney World, I suppose.   We felt right at h...

Movin' On Up! Kennedy's Graduation!

Image
I'm a stay-at-home mom but the girls have been going to a daycare one day a week while I run errands and get work done.  I feel guilty & embarrassed saying that .  But , anyone who has taken 3 small children to get the car's oil change is with me! Kennedy's age group moves up from a daycare level to a preschool level in the fall.  She'll be attending preschool a few mornings each week and she's so excited.   The daycare had a little ceremony for the kids moving up.   They brought the kids up the center aisle, all dressed in caps and gowns.   Then they sat at the front and recited their alphabet, numbers, colors, and so forth.  Clearly, I'm not tall enough to be taking pictures.   Here's Kennedy up front on a teacher's lap during the program:   And, after the ceremony she came to show off her 'graduation' outfit.  I think we'll use this photo at her open house in ano...

5 New Inventions

Image
I absolutely love the TV show Shark Tank .  People share their new inventions and products with real investors.  And now,  I have 5 new inventions for you!   I bet you didn't even know you needed these items, until now!!    Here we go: 1.  American cheese slices the same shape and slightly smaller than a piece of sandwich bread . Why do they make those squares so small? And, why squares?  Let's shape them like bread. 2.  A pillow that has a vibrating alarm clock inside it .  For those of us who are light sleepers, the loud alarm clocks are sure to produce heart attacks.   I jump every time it goes off.   I think having a pillow vibrate would be much better way to wake up! 3.  A fitting room that eliminates static in your hair while you try on clothes. 4.  A butter dispenser on the fridge door (like the water/ice).  You no longer have to measure out tablespoons of butter for cooking; you just walk...

Captain Amberica

I have the skills to be a real super hero.   I've seen several powers this week alone. 1.  I was reminded while eating my chocolate truffle Blizzard that I have never had brain freeze .  If that's not a super hero power, I don't know what is. 2.  I saw a fly in the house and wished that it was dead.   Later I found it dead on the ground.  Coincidence? I think not. 3.  I drank some orange juice shortly after brushing my teeth and it wasn't that terrible.  Take that ! 4.  I ran my hands through my hair and Cheez-It crumbs came out .  Who knows what's next-- daggers? 5.  I lost a GIANT stainless steel bowl in my house shortly after washing it in the sink.  Four days later it magically appeared in the dishwasher after thinking, "Maybe it's in the dishwasher!".  Kapow !! 6.  I kept myself & 3 small children almost completely hidden while Nathan hosted a men's event at our home.  I didn't even use d...
