Mini Quiches

Image
I've made 3 dozen crustless mini quiches since yesterday. These are great to freeze. I wouldn't be a good friend unless I shared this with you . Crustless Mini Quiches (makes 12) 6 eggs 1 cup heavy cream salt/pepper + any other desired seasonings Shredded cheese (cheddar or monterey jack are good. I used about 1 cup for 12) Sausage, bacon, or veggies (you pick!) (I used about 8-10 slices bacon + 1/2 lb sausage for 12). Spray a muffin tin with Pam ( don't forget like I did.... ). In each muffin cup, mix some sausage, bacon, and cheese. (or, substitute with your favorite mix of meats/veggies). In a separate bowl, mix the eggs, cream, salt/pepper, and any seasonings you want. Pour the egg mixture into each muffin cup over the meat/cheese. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 or until a knife comes out clean. They will puff up when they are done but deflate once cool; that's normal. I take them out and cool on cooling racks. Once totally cool, you can freeze...

Vegas Or Bust!

Image
My idea of vacation is when I go the hospital to have another baby. I love it . I take full advantage of the nursery staff, I take long showers, and I order french toast from my bed in the morning. I LOVE going to the hospital to have more babies. However, there are too many long term costs with more babies.... so this time we've opted for a REAL vacation! That's right, VEGAS OR BUST! This trip is a rare opportunity for us. We just happen to have the BEST babysitters in the world who can watch my kids for 4 full days while Nathan & I vacation. Sweet ! Let me mention that when I was on Delta's website shopping for tickets, I had to refresh the page. Then the flight that I most desperately wanted DISAPPEARED . I called Delta. Apparently, if you call Delta for help, your call lands in Jamaica . The reception was poor and I couldn't understand most of what they said... but I'm pretty sure they got us flights to Vegas ( or remote Africa, but whatever ). Th...

I just realized that I missed doing something big for my 5ooth blog post!! ( this is #510 ) How could I? So..... you deserve something fabulous now. Something epic. Something ALL. ABOUT. ME. I present to you, 50 more things you may not know about me. Here we go. 1. I'm not sure why I blog but I can't stop. 2. I'm currently addicted to hard boiled eggs . It took me several attempts to make them and peel them just right. 3. I'm convinced that my mom and brother had lots of secret fun together before I was born and then it all ended. He still teases me that they made donuts without me. 4. I remember when my grandpa drove me to driver's ed class and he flipped someone off in traffic, forgetting I was with him. I wasn't supposed to tell my parents. 5. If I had to pick one food to eat every meal for the rest of my life, I would pick egg noodles . 6. I went to a place in Mexico so remote that the children were afraid of me because I was white. 7. ...

St Patty's Green

Image
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!! Keegan woke up and informed us that he would stay in his room all day and not come out at all.... until we told him it was St. Patrick's Day. He did not want to miss the excitement. Too bad for him all we do is wear green shirts. Happy St Patty's Day from our house to yours!

R-E-A-D-I-N-G

I thought this photo deserved its' very own blog post. There are several reasons why I love it. 1. Keegan is R-E-A-D-I-N-G (and he looks very serious while doing it) 2. No one is whining, at least out loud 3. They are the closest they've ever been without wrestling 4. They are having fun together without the TV being on 5. This photo was taken after a rough afternoon with Keegan and it was a good reminder of how precious he really is. And.......... it's just plain SWEET !

Label Me, Baby

Image
I love labels. If you have small children, I highly recommend buying personalized waterproof labels from Etsy.com ( LINK ). I use them to label sippy cups and other belongings for the church nursery, gym nursery, school cafeteria, etc. They come in a variety of sizes, shapes, colors, and styles. And, the waterproof ones go through the dishwasher with no problem. These are from Cherry Hill Designs ( LINK ). They're tiny and worked well for bottles and sippy cups. Then I bought some bigger ones like these from SnappitySnap ( LINK ). They work well on lunchbox containers, water bottles, etc. Finally, I just bought these for Savannah (in pink, of course) . They are from Lollipop Labels ( LINK ). You can pick your color, fonts, and more. I know you want in on this! Enjoy!

That's What Little Girls Are Made Of

Yesterday was Savannah's first birthday party ! We had a small party but lots of fun. The theme was "Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice" . I made the invitations myself: Then Target released a new party theme which matched perfectly. I'm pretty sure they stole my idea!: I mostly decorated with stuff from around the house or thrown together. Well, because I'm frugal. We ate lots of food. I forgot to take pictures of most of it.... but we had bacon-wrapped pineapple ( RECIPE ), cold/appetizer veggie pizza ( RECIPE ) , & hot ham & swiss sliders ( RECIPE ). And, lots of sweets. Here's my new fun bowl from Goodwill. Score . And, we served Savannah Smiles Girl Scout cookies ( Mariah's idea !): My friend, Julie, made the lemon cupcakes and they were amazing. Savannah loved it when we sang happy birthday to her. And, she devoured her cupcake. That's my girl! She opened some gifts: And, most of all..... got lots of love! ! Happy 1st bir...

Spice Things Up!

Image
My current method for finding a spice in my spice cabinet it to take out most of the containers , gripe & complain , and then wonder why I've been doing it this way for 10 years. Not anymore! I finally found the perfect solution to better organizing my spice cabinet! SpiceStor clips!! Bah-humbug to storage solutions in the stores that never fit my cabinet. Here was my cabinet before. Annoying, right? (And, yes, that's "Cinnamon Sugar" that you see. Apparently I spend money on cinnamon sugar because the thought of mixing it myself is far too complicated). I put clips on the back wall: They have a strong adhesive back for easy installation. I'm only using them for the small spice containers because those are the ones that get lost. Then I cut the strips to fit along the sides: Beautiful . I even put them on the door (make sure the door will shut!). I will never lose the cream of tartar again! Want in on this? Amazon.com $7.69 ( LINK). Let's spic...

The Big ONE!

Image
My baby girl turns ONE today!!!!!!!!!!! She went from this: To this......... in a blink of an eye! Savannah is still the SWEETEST baby in the world! Really . She makes me smile. Since the last update..... -She had a cold + double ear infection (a first for us!) and hardly fussed -She has taken a few tiny steps here and there but no real walking yet -She loves grilled cheese sandwiches -No new teeth (still just 2) -She loves playing in the play kitchen -She's being weaned of her formula, pacifier, and hopefully her bottles all this week -Did I mention how SWEET she is!? If I could keep her has a baby forever, I would. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. It's bittersweet. Here's a glimpse of this past year..... watch her grow! I am so thankful for my sweet girl. God has blessed us! Happy first birthday to Savannah!!! We love you!!!
