Second Grader!

Image
I choked up a little when Keegan left the house this morning as a first grader.  I'll be picking him up today as a 2nd grader..... I'm so proud of him. He's learned so much this year.  He's an amazing reader (he recently finished Charlotte's Web).  He likes to write people letters.  He does math, even "for fun".   He's good at drawing. And, he's really matured. His teacher was amazing.  She's full of joy, patience, and just so sweet to work with.  For comparison, here was Keegan last year on his FIRST day of school: Here he was this morning on his LAST day (no uniforms last week of school) :   Another.... FIRST day: LAST DAY: I'd say he's taller and his face is more mature.  More freckles, too! Congratulations, Keegan!!!!  Welcome to SECOND grade!!

We recently started ordering produce from Green B.E.A.N Delivery ( LINK ).  They bring fresh, organic, local produce right to your front door.  It was love at first berry . Here's how it works.  First, sign up for service online.   You can customize the size of your produce bin and the frequency.   Prior to the actual delivery, they will email you with a list of what you'll receive in your next bin (based on what's in season, etc).   You'll have a window of time to switch out items you don't want (Unless your son begs you to keep the lime.  In that case, don't trade it.).   You can also add natural grocery items from local artisans.  We get the small size produce bin at our house.  It comes biweekly for $35 (google for a coupon code on your first purchase, btw).  Then, the doorbell rings.  The excitement begins . The kids run out the door ( yes, one of them not wearing pants.... ). Your produce bi...

I've had a lingering sore throat/cough/headache/congestion/etc for several weeks now.  I reluctantly went to the clinic at the drugstore last month and they called it a sinus infection and gave me antibiotics.  It didn't help. So.... last night I thought I'd make a "quick stop" at our local Med Check (apparently I need find a primary care physician...) thinking I'd just get a new prescription.  Easy peasy, right!? The next thing I know, I'm wearing a hospital gown and being sent for chest xrays (which ruled out walking pneumonia). Then they gave me a simple, routine breathing treatment to clear out my breathing.  It's called Albuterol.  No biggie.  A few minutes of breathing this magical air and I'd be on my way.     Not so. You know how medicines have that little fine print listing severe side effects that rarely happen?  I guess they are for people like me. My heart began to race. I was light-headed and confused (more...

Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday!

I'm a proud aunt to a new baby girl today.     Welcome to the family, Delaney Rae!  Isn't she a doll? As if her cuteness isn't enough, she really beat the odds.  She is the third generation to have the exact same birthday... May 4th. My dad was born May 4, 1944.   My brother was born on his 30th birthday, May 4, 1974.    And, on May 4, 2013.... my brother's baby, Delaney, entered this world.    I read that the chances of this were 1 in 48,627,125 .  I'm not one to gamble but I told my brother to buy a lottery ticket on his way home. I guess my family really wanted to save money on cakes. This time next year we'll celebrate her 1st, my brother's 40th, and my dad's 70th.... all on the same day! Happy birthday, Jeff & Dad.... and to sweet Delaney!!!
